Ernest Imme was a member of the Carl Schumacher Unit #55 of the Steuben Society of America
and a member of the West Central Florida German-American Club in Beverly
Hills, FL. He was proud of his German heritage, having been born in Woldeck,
Germany on March 19, 1914. He saw service in the army during World War II. He
had an educational background in the technical field, with master degrees as
a machinist and tool and die maker. He was gifted in music and loved to play
his violin. His second love was teaching students the German language. He was
proud to be an American and worked hard to be a good citizen. He espoused two
basic themes: Every person has a responsibility to be concerned about the
needs of others, and each person should accept life as they find it but
strive to make it a little bit better.
Ernest died on September 8, 2009 while a resident of the Moosehaven facility, Orange Park, FL.
Funeral services were held on September 10, at 2pm in the Moosehaven Chapel
at Orange Park. Officiating at the beautiful service wereReverend Helen
Taylor and officers of Opportunity Lodge. Reverend Taylor gave the eulogy ,
and four of the officers spoke during the services. A small choir sang
several hymns, accompanied by a wonderful organist. It was an open casket
service, and many friends from Moosehaven viewed the body and said their
final farewells to Ernest. He was interred in Oak Ridge Cemetery at
Inverness, FL, on September 14, in a private burial. Submitted
by Walter & Iona Sauer. *** Let it be known
that Helga Schlegel, one of our clubs director, is the newest Citizen of the United States. |
